This is so paramount\u00a0in classical approach to yoga, rather than the modern approach to yoga which is quite consumeristic, anyway.\u00a0In the last couple of sessions, we were delineating more on the theory and the philosophical aspects of yoga. But today, let\u2019s embark upon the practical aspects of it. So, get prepared to be doing, getting into some asana as now we commence.<br><br>\u611f\u8c22\u5927\u5bb6\u8fdb\u5165\u8fd9\u5802\u65b0\u7684\u6559\u80b2\u8bfe\u7a0b\u2014\u2014\u201c\u745c\u4f3d\u5f53\u4e2d\u201d\u3001\u201c\u7ecf\u7531\u745c\u4f3d\u201d\u3001\u201c\u901a\u8fc7\u745c\u4f3d\u201d\u3001\u201c\u5173\u4e8e\u745c\u4f3d\u201d\uff0c\u8fd9\u4e9b\u5728\u4f20\u7edf\u745c\u4f3d\u7684\u6559\u80b2\u65b9\u6cd5\u4e2d\u90fd\u662f\u81f3\u5173\u91cd\u8981\u7684\uff0c\u5b83\u7edd\u975e\u6781\u5177\u6d88\u8d39\u6027\u8d28\u7684\u73b0\u4ee3\u745c\u4f3d\u6559\u80b2\u65b9\u5f0f\u3002\u5728\u524d\u9762\u51e0\u8282\u8bfe\u91cc\uff0c\u6211\u4eec\u66f4\u504f\u91cd\u4e8e\u9610\u8ff0\u745c\u4f3d\u7684\u7406\u8bba\u548c\u54f2\u5b66\u5c42\u9762\uff0c\u4eca\u5929\uff0c\u8ba9\u6211\u4eec\u5c55\u5f00\u5b83\u5b9e\u7528\u6027\u7684\u5c42\u9762\u3002\u56e0\u6b64\uff0c\u51c6\u5907\u597d\u53bb\u505a\uff0c\u53ef\u4ee5\u8fdb\u5165\u67d0\u4e9b\u4f53\u5f0f\uff0c\u6211\u4eec\u73b0\u5728\u5f00\u59cb\u3002<br><br>The point is I\u2019ve\u00a0been telling you how postures are not yoga. Now today we are going\u00a0to highlight how\/what we do, how yoga can come in there, how yoga can be coming in our postures to make the postures\u00a0yogasanas. So, rather than going by negative analysis as to what is not yoga, why something is not yoga, why postures are not\u00a0asanas, why posture is not\u00a0yoga, now let\u2019s try to have a positive approach and understanding\u00a0how\/where\/when\u00a0yoga comes in, even in those postures, the postures themselves become\u00a0yogasanas. And at this point in time, I wanted to be clear about the mix-up between\u00a0asanas\u00a0and postures. Postures are majorly position for\u00a0asana, but they are not\u00a0asana\u00a0by themselves. So, let\u2019s see how\u00a0asana\u00a0can come in, in what form that\u00a0yoga comes. For you and me neophytes,\u00a0where yoga is not really actualized, perhaps yoga is not even traced. We do not trace yoga in what we do perhaps. Let\u2019s see how yoga comes in.<br><br>\u91cd\u70b9\u5c31\u662f\u6211\u4e00\u76f4\u544a\u8bc9\u4f60\u4eec\u7684\uff0c\u59ff\u52bf\u4f55\u4ee5\u4e0d\u662f\u745c\u4f3d\u3002\u4eca\u5929\uff0c\u6211\u4eec\u8981\u5f3a\u8c03\u7684\u662f\uff0c\u6211\u4eec\u5982\u4f55\u505a\/\u505a\u4ec0\u4e48\uff0c\u624d\u80fd\u8ba9\u745c\u4f3d\u8fdb\u5165\u5230\u59ff\u52bf\u91cc\u9762\u3001\u745c\u4f3d\u5982\u4f55\u8fdb\u5165\u6211\u4eec\u7684\u59ff\u52bf\u5f53\u4e2d\u3001\u5982\u4f55\u8ba9\u8fd9\u4e9b\u59ff\u52bf\u7ee7\u800c\u53d8\u6210\u745c\u4f3d\u4f53\u5f0f\u3002\u6240\u4ee5\uff0c\u4e0e\u5176\u4ece\u5426\u5b9a\u6027\u8d28\u7684\u5206\u6790\u5165\u624b\u2014\u2014\u4ec0\u4e48\u4e0d\u662f\u745c\u4f3d\u3001\u4e3a\u4f55\u90a3\u4e9b\u4e0d\u662f\u745c\u4f3d\u3001\u4e3a\u4f55\u59ff\u52bf\u4e0d\u662f\u4f53\u5f0f\u3001\u4e3a\u4f55\u59ff\u52bf\u4e0d\u662f\u745c\u4f3d\uff0c\u4e0d\u5982\u73b0\u5728\u8ba9\u6211\u4eec\u5c1d\u8bd5\u62e5\u6709\u4e00\u4e2a\u80af\u5b9a\u6027\u8d28\u7684\u65b9\u6cd5\uff0c\u5e76\u4e14\u53bb\u4f53\u4f1a\u745c\u4f3d\u201c\u5982\u4f55\u201d\/\u201c\u4f55\u5904\u201d\/\u201c\u4f55\u65f6\u201d\u624d\u5f97\u4ee5\u8fdb\u6765\uff0c\u751a\u81f3\u5728\u90a3\u4e9b\u59ff\u52bf\u5f53\u4e2d\uff0c\u59ff\u52bf\u672c\u8eab\u90fd\u80fd\u591f\u53d8\u6210\u745c\u4f3d\u4f53\u5f0f\uff0c\u5e76\u4e14\u6070\u6070\u5c31\u5728\u8fd9\u4e2a\u70b9\u4e0a\uff0c\u6211\u8981\u6f84\u6e05\u4f53\u5f0f\u548c\u59ff\u52bf\u4e4b\u95f4\u7684\u6df7\u6dc6\u3002\u59ff\u52bf\u4e3a\u4e86\u4f53\u5f0f\u800c\u4e3b\u8981\u8868\u73b0\u4e3a\u4e00\u79cd\u6446\u653e\uff0c\u4f46\u5b83\u4eec\u4ec5\u4ec5\u901a\u8fc7\u81ea\u8eab\u5374\u5e76\u975e\u4e00\u4e2a\u4f53\u5f0f\u3002\u6240\u4ee5\u8ba9\u6211\u4eec\u53bb\u770b\u770b\uff0c\u4f53\u5f0f\u5982\u4f55\u624d\u80fd\u8fdb\u6765\uff0c\u745c\u4f3d\u4f1a\u4ee5\u4f55\u79cd\u5f62\u5f0f\u624d\u80fd\u8fdb\u5230\u5176\u4e2d\u3002\u5bf9\u4e8e\u4f60\u548c\u6211\u8fd9\u6837\u7684\u521d\u5b66\u8005\u800c\u8a00\u3001\u5728\u6211\u4eec\u8fd9\u4e2a\u7b49\u7ea7\u4e0a\uff0c\u745c\u4f3d\u5176\u5b9e\u8fd8\u6ca1\u6709\u771f\u6b63\u5b58\u5728\uff0c\u751a\u81f3\u53ef\u80fd\u8fd8\u627e\u4e0d\u5230\u745c\u4f3d\u7684\u8e2a\u8ff9\uff0c\u6211\u4eec\u5728\u6211\u4eec\u6240\u505a\u7684\u4e1c\u897f\u91cc\u9762\u672a\u80fd\u8ffd\u8e2a\u5230\u745c\u4f3d\u7684\u75d5\u8ff9\uff0c\u6240\u4ee5\u8ba9\u6211\u4eec\u53bb\u770b\u770b\u745c\u4f3d\u5982\u4f55\u624d\u80fd\u8fdb\u5230\u5176\u4e2d\u3002<br><br>So, get into a position, I would suggest you will get into\u00a0sirsasana,\u00a0salamba sirsasana, alternatively somebody can be going for\u00a0uttitha hasta padasana,uttitha hasta padangusthasana\u00a0as you call it, or simple sitting-bharadvajasana. I opened\u00a0up these options because some of you may not be able to go forsirsansana\u00a0for the sake of studying. So therefore, I have given options of\u00a0a standing position such as\u00a0uttithita hasta padasana, as you call it as\u00a0utthita hasta padangusthasana, or\u00a0bharadvajasana. So, get into your positions, and I won\u2019t be suggesting change of sides. You will be doing on your own, like inbharadvajasana\u00a0and\u00a0utthita hasta.\u00a0You will be changing on your own. In\u00a0sirsasana, you can be staying straight for some while, and then you can also be preceding to variations on your own. So, get into your positions. So, the moment we get into the posture, we become posture-aware. We become posture-aware\/posture-conscious. We become \u2018posture-ly\u2019\u00a0active, and we try to get our postural position, proper position.<br><br>\u6240\u4ee5\uff0c\u8fdb\u5165\u4e00\u4e2a\u6446\u653e\u65b9\u5f0f\uff0c\u6211\u4f1a\u5efa\u8bae\u4f60\u8fdb\u5165\u5934\u5012\u7acb\/\u6709\u652f\u6491\u5934\u5012\u7acb\uff0c\u66ff\u4ee3\u5b83\u7684\u9009\u62e9\u662futtitha hasta padasana\u2014\u2014\u4f60\u4eec\u79f0\u4e4b\u4e3a\u201c\u7ad9\u7acb\u624b\u6293\u5927\u811a\u8dbe\u201d\uff0c\u6216\u5723\u54f2\u5df4\u62c9\u5fb7\u74e6\u4f3d\u626d\u8f6c\u3002\u6240\u4ee5\uff0c\u8fdb\u5165\u5230\u4f60\u4eec\u7684\u6446\u653e\u5f53\u4e2d\uff0c\u6211\u4e0d\u4f1a\u63d0\u9192\u4f60\u4eec\u6362\u8fb9\uff0c\u4f60\u4eec\u81ea\u5df1\u505a\u4f60\u4eec\u81ea\u5df1\u7684\uff0c\u5c31\u50cf\u5728\u5723\u54f2\u5df4\u62c9\u5fb7\u74e6\u4f3d\u626d\u8f6c\u548c\u201c\u624b\u6293\u5927\u811a\u8dbe\u201d\u5f53\u4e2d\uff0c\u4f60\u4eec\u6309\u7167\u81ea\u5df1\u7684\u8282\u594f\u53bb\u6362\u3002\u5728\u5934\u5012\u7acb\u4e2d\uff0c\u4f60\u4eec\u53ef\u4ee5\u5728\u76f4\u7acb\u72b6\u6001\u4e2d\u5f85\u4e00\u4f1a\u513f\uff0c\u7136\u540e\u4f60\u4eec\u6309\u7167\u81ea\u5df1\u7684\u8282\u594f\u8fdb\u5165\u5404\u79cd\u53d8\u4f53\uff0c\u6240\u4ee5\u73b0\u5728\u8fdb\u5165\u4f60\u4eec\u5404\u81ea\u7684\u6446\u653e\u3002\u6240\u4ee5\u5728\u6211\u4eec\u8fdb\u5165\u8fd9\u4e2a\u59ff\u52bf\u7684\u90a3\u4e00\u523b\u8d77\uff0c\u6211\u4eec\u5373\u523b\u53d8\u6210\u59ff\u52bf-\u89c9\u77e5\uff0c\u6211\u4eec\u4f1a\u53d8\u6210\u59ff\u52bf-\u89c9\u77e5\u3001\u59ff\u52bf-\u610f\u8bc6\uff0c\u6211\u4eec\u53d8\u5f97\u201c\u59ff\u52bf\u6027\u5730\u201d\u6d3b\u8dc3\u8d77\u6765\uff0c\u5e76\u4e14\u6211\u4eec\u5c1d\u8bd5\u53bb\u62ff\u4e0b\u8fd9\u4e2a\u59ff\u52bf\u6027\u7684\u6446\u653e\u5f62\u5f0f\uff0c\u8bd5\u56fe\u62ff\u4e0b\u4e00\u4e2a\u59a5\u5584\u7684\u6446\u653e\u65b9\u5f0f\u3002<br><br>So, go for that, where you are body-aware, body-active, body-sensitive, body-mobile, and that is how we commence our postures. So now I would call this as \u2018being in position\u2019, you are in a position\u00a0through a posture\/a position of a\u00a0posture\u2019.<br><br>\u6240\u4ee5\uff0c\u4e3a\u4e86\u90a3\u4e9b\u65b9\u9762\u5148\u53bb\u505a\uff0c\u4f60\u5728\u5176\u4e2d\u4f1a\u662f\u8eab\u4f53-\u89c9\u77e5\u3001\u8eab\u4f53-\u6d3b\u8dc3\u3001\u8eab\u4f53-\u89c9\u5bdf\u3001\u8eab\u4f53-\u9a71\u52a8\uff0c\u90a3\u5c31\u662f\u6211\u4eec\u5982\u4f55\u5f00\u59cb\u6211\u4eec\u59ff\u52bf\u7684\u65b9\u5f0f\uff0c\u6240\u4ee5\u73b0\u5728\u6211\u79f0\u4e4b\u4e3a\u201c\u5904\u4e8e\u6446\u653e\u5f53\u4e2d\u201d\uff0c\u4f60\u4eec\u901a\u8fc7\u4e00\u4e2a\u59ff\u52bf\u800c\u5904\u4e8e\u6446\u653e\u5f53\u4e2d\/\u59ff\u52bf\u7684\u4e00\u4e2a\u6446\u653e\u3002<br><br>Now in what way the yoga comes in here? The indoctrination is to just be doing the posture where you are skeleto-muscular aware, you carry out certain bio-mechanics, you activate your body, body matter, muscles, joints, bones, skin, flesh\u2014\u2014all body matter. We try to activate\u00a0it, put into position properly\u00a0and we will go on correcting it, improving it, evolving it, adjusting it. So anyway, reach a workable posture which will take some time.<br><br>\u73b0\u5728\uff0c\u745c\u4f3d\u4f1a\u4ee5\u4ec0\u4e48\u65b9\u5f0f\u8fdb\u5165\u6b64\u5730\u5462\uff1f\u5165\u95e8\u6559\u80b2\u7684\u53cd\u590d\u704c\u8f93\u53ea\u662f\u4e00\u5473\u5730\u53bb\u505a\u8fd9\u4e2a\u59ff\u52bf\uff0c\u4f60\u5728\u5176\u4e2d\u611f\u53d7\u7684\u662f\u9aa8\u9abc-\u808c\u8089\u7684\u89c9\u77e5\uff0c\u4f60\u5728\u65bd\u5c55\u67d0\u4e9b\u751f\u7269-\u529b\u5b66\u7684\u884c\u4e3a\uff0c\u4f60\u5728\u6fc0\u6d3b\u4f60\u7684\u8eab\u4f53\u3001\u8eab\u4f53\u7269\u8d28\u3001\u808c\u8089\u3001\u5173\u8282\u3001\u9aa8\u9abc\u3001\u76ae\u80a4\u3001\u8089\u2014\u2014\u6240\u6709\u8fd9\u4e9b\u8eab\u4f53\u7269\u8d28\u3002\u6211\u4eec\u52aa\u529b\u5730\u53bb\u6fc0\u6d3b\u5b83\u3001\u59a5\u5584\u5730\u53bb\u6446\u653e\uff08\u5b83\uff09\uff0c\u6211\u4eec\u8fd8\u4f1a\u6301\u7eed\u5730\u53bb\u7ea0\u6b63\u5b83\u3001\u7cbe\u8fdb\u5b83\u3001\u63d0\u5347\u5b83\u3001\u8c03\u6574\u5b83\u3002\u6240\u4ee5\u4e0d\u7ba1\u600e\u4e48\u505a\uff0c\u603b\u8981\u8fbe\u5230\u4e00\u4e2a\u53ef\u884c\u7684\u59ff\u52bf\uff0c\u800c\u90a3\u662f\u9700\u8981\u82b1\u4e0a\u4e00\u6bb5\u65f6\u95f4\u7684\u3002<br><br>Now how does yoga commence here, \u00a0for us\u2014\u2014at neophyte\u2019s\u00a0level, become connected in limbs and trunk, become connected in limbs and trunk, become connected between lower body and upper body, back body and front body, surface body and inner physical body. So, establish these connectivity-es, get connected between one part of the body and other parts of the body, each and every part of the body with every other parts of the body. So, get connected. So, this connectivity\/getting connected is also one of the connotations of yoga. There are several connotations toward yoga. There are so many compatible connotations, suitable connotations. At different hierarchies the\u00a0connotations will change. So, at our hierarchy,\u00a0Let\u2019s get connected between limbs and trunk, between back and front, between outer and inner physical body matter, between the sides and front\u00a0and sides and back,\u00a0so, let\u2019s get connected.<br><br>\u73b0\u5728\u5bf9\u4e8e\u6211\u4eec\u800c\u8a00\u3001\u5728\u521d\u5b66\u8005\u7684\u6bb5\u4f4d\u4e0a,\u745c\u4f3d\u5982\u4f55\u5728\u6b64\u5f00\u542f\u2014\u2014\u5728\u56db\u80a2\u548c\u8eaf\u5e72\u5f53\u4e2d\u9010\u6e10\u5730\u8fdb\u884c\u8fde\u63a5\uff0c\u628a\u56db\u80a2\u548c\u8eaf\u5e72\u4e4b\u95f4\u9010\u6e10\u8fde\u63a5\u8d77\u6765\u3001\u8eab\u4f53\u7684\u4e0b\u7aef\u548c\u8eab\u4f53\u7684\u4e0a\u7aef\u3001\u8eab\u4f53\u7684\u8868\u9762\u548c\u8eab\u4f53\u7684\u5185\u5728\uff0c\u56e0\u6b64\u53bb\u5efa\u7acb\u597d\u8fd9\u4e9b\u8fde\u63a5\uff0c\u5728\u8eab\u4f53\u7684\u4e00\u4e2a\u90e8\u4f4d\u4e0e\u5176\u4ed6\u90e8\u4f4d\u4e4b\u95f4\u5efa\u7acb\u8fde\u63a5\uff0c\u8eab\u4f53\u7684\u6bcf\u4e2a\u90e8\u4f4d\u4e0e\u8eab\u4f53\u7684\u5176\u4ed6\u90e8\u4f4d\u90fd\u8981\u5efa\u7acb\u8fde\u63a5\uff0c\u56e0\u6b64\uff0c\u8981\u8fde\u63a5\u8d77\u6765\u3002\u8fd9\u4e2a\u8fde\u63a5\/\u8fde\u63a5\u7684\u5efa\u7acb\uff0c\u4e5f\u56e0\u800c\u662f\u745c\u4f3d\u7684\u542b\u4e49\u4e4b\u4e00\uff0c\u745c\u4f3d\u6709\u597d\u51e0\u4e2a\u542b\u4e49\u3001\u6709\u8bb8\u591a\u76f8\u5e94\u7684\u542b\u4e49\u3001\u6070\u5f53\u7684\u542b\u4e49\uff0c\u5728\u4e0d\u540c\u7684\u7b49\u7ea7\u4e0a\uff0c\u542b\u4e49\u4e5f\u4f1a\u968f\u4e4b\u53d1\u751f\u53d8\u5316\u3002\u56e0\u6b64\uff0c\u5728\u6211\u4eec\u7684\u8fd9\u4e2a\u7b49\u7ea7\u4e0a\uff0c\u8ba9\u6211\u4eec\u5728\u56db\u80a2\u548c\u8eaf\u5e72\u4e4b\u95f4\u3001\u8eab\u4f53\u7684\u540e\u4fa7\u4e0e\u524d\u4fa7\u4e4b\u95f4\u3001\u5916\u5728\u7269\u8d28\u4e0e\u5185\u5728\u7269\u8d28\u4e4b\u95f4\u3001\u8eab\u4f53\u4e24\u4fa7\u4e0e\u524d\u4fa7\u3001\u4e24\u4fa7\u4e0e\u540e\u4fa7\u4e4b\u95f4\u5148\u53bb\u5efa\u7acb\u8fde\u63a5, \u6240\u4ee5\uff0c\u8ba9\u6211\u4eec\u5148\u83b7\u5f97\u8fde\u63a5\u3002<br><br>Then, let us get connected between our breath and body,\u00a0the breath and breathing with our body matter, body parts, body aspects, body facets, body factors; Let\u2019s get connected between the mind-awareness and body. So, we can understand how the mind works in a temporal plane, in empirical world. Now here how the mind works? Why it is associated with the body? All the body-mind-breath-senses etc. will become mutually compatible, mutually becoming benefactors and mutually becoming beneficiaries. Now this is the aspect of literacy*\u00a0in education\u2014\u2014how each one of them is working as a benefactor, how each one is working as a beneficiary. Posture has to be done.\u00a0But now mark here, there is interaction, they interact, they become mutually considerate. When you are considerate with a person, you have a kind of thought process,\u00a0which won\u2019t be there if you are inconsiderate about that person. So, when body, mind and breath are mutually considerate, how would they work? What do they do? So, this is an aspect of education.\u00a0We have to get educated in the realm of our own embodiment. So, the yoga here comes for us in the form of getting connected, becoming mutually related, becoming mutually activating each other, activators of each other, activated by each other. Have we done this, have we done that? So, it is all doing\u00a0and doing and doing; whereas in\u00a0asanas, you will come across this condition that they are working for each other, mutually for each other, they interact, they have interplay. When they are related to each other now, the relationship is being actualized and being encouraged. Affiliations are established, and therefore they start working for each other. That is also a connotation of yoga. There are some books, some subjects where there is meditative potential; you cannot open a newspaper, and try to trace meditative potential in a news item there. So, refined activity and refined thought will definitely lead towards a meditative state. It will have\u00a0meditativity-potential, meditative-potential. And your\u00a0asanas\u00a0will give you a plethora of it. So, find out how, as I said during that session which we dealt with the meditation, I told you there are three aspects. They are in your state of mind. Because in asanas, we are supposed to go for a state of mind. We want quiet\u00a0state, serene state, sublime state, noble state. unalloyed state of bliss. So, we will be going for a positive state of mind in\u00a0asanas. We do not go for negative state of mind in anasana. We want to improve the state of mind. And how that is a thought structure behind improving your state of the mind. So, try to highlight the thought process as you are going for refined states\u00a0of activity, and refined states of thought. Identify the thought content. See how the thought content will change in body-set addressal, breath-set addressal\u00a0and mind-set addressal. That is consumerism, that you want to do yoga and feel quiet,\u00a0serene, sublime, sedate, pensive, a little transcendent, seven-heavenly mind\u2026that is consumerism. Try to understand the underlying thought, and the structure of thought\u00a0for sublime states. Let us not be consumeristic. Let us see how is thought structuring for sublimation. So, when there is a thought, there is a thinker; when there is a thinking, there is a thought. So, these are three dimensions of one concept. Do not go by little meaning of the thought, or thinking. Now see, no doubt you are not in\u00a0himsa, you are not committing a \u2018himsattvic-activity\u2019, or \u2018activity of the nature of\u00a0himsa\u2019, nor there is a thought of the nature of\u00a0himsa. But that is not all, you are going beyond. Not only that you are away from them, you will engage in their\u00a0opponent\u2014\u2014dharma. Their\u00a0opponent of\u00a0dharma-tattva\u00a0that you will establish in\u00a0dharma-tattva. So see how the\u00a0yamas, the very material ofyama\u00a0is being turned\u00a0out. This is how\u00a0YOG\u00a0comes in\u00a0asana.
